Ronny Tautali, the director behind SECPRO Limited and previously Malosi Security Limited, has lost his Certificate of Approval (COA), and both companies have faced closure following a scathing investigation and financial turmoil. An inquiry by the Complaints, Investigation, and Prosecution Unit (CIPU) uncovered major breaches of the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010. SECPRO Limited, under Tautali’s leadership, was found to have employed unlicensed staff as crowd controllers between August and November 2021, violating Section 45(1) of the Act.
The company also failed to properly investigate a serious incident involving an employee assaulting a patron. Despite claiming he would improve business practices, Tautali did not provide any evidence to support these claims. He also ignored requests from the Authority to supply documents and participate in the complaints process.
SECPRO Limited is now being removed from the New Zealand Companies Register due to its failure to comply with regulations and address its misconduct. This comes after another failed venture, Malosi Security Limited, which was also owned by Tautali. Liquidators’ reports for Malosi Security Limited revealed that the company left creditors out of pocket, owing $353,213.99 to unsecured creditors and $233,245.21 to preferential creditors. However, insufficient funds meant no distributions could be made to creditors. SECPRO Limited followed a similar path, facing financial difficulties and legal issues that ultimately led to its closure.
In a decision by the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (PSPLA), SECPRO Limited’s application to renew its company license has been denied. Additionally, Tautali’s COA has been canceled, effective November 20, 2024. He is required to return his identification badge and cannot reapply for a license or COA unless he addresses the numerous issues outlined in the CIPU findings.
The Authority also made the decision public without redactions, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in the security industry.
